List of Features available in the Application for the end users: Recommending best CROPS for their fields, Recommending best SEED type with amount of seed required for their size of fields Recommending best FERTILIZERS type with amount of fertilizers required for their size of fields Providing portal to buy seeds and fertilizers in one click. Recommending best time to harvest by providing one click feature to book the harvester vehicles. Recommending the approximate Quantity and Earnings from crop production. Recommending the list of best offering buyers for the crops.

Inspiration

During covid times, we observed that the farmers were facing issues at multiple stages in farming like, unable to find the stores available nearby unable to compare the seed prices at multiple stores unable to decide the fertilizer distributer with most economic price unaware for amount of fertilizer to be used based on their crop and field size unable to get the harvesters during cultivation due to overbooking unaware of all the nearby sellers who can offer best price for selling their crops

What it does

It helps the farmer to decide the best crops for their fields and also help during all the farming stages till selling of the crops.

SEED SELECTION STEP:

Issues: Few farmers struggle to identify the best type of seeds available in market and which one is the best for their fields, and where they can purchase the seeds.

App Solution: It will help the farmers to decide which type of seeds available for their crops and where they can buy them as well as how much optimal amount of seed is required for farming.

IRRIGATION STEP:

Issues: Generally because of unaware of correct irrigation for crops, the farmers fill the fields with more water which gradually decrease the ground water level in long go.

App Solution: App will suggest which irrigation method will be more helpful for their crops.

FERTILIZATION STEP:

Issues: Unavailability of fertilizers at most of the stores, as well as which fertilizer is most suitable for their crops. Some time farmers not aware of what will be the actual amount of fertilizer to use in fields.

App Solution: It helps the farmers to decide which fertilizer they need and also what will be the amount of fertilizer they need to spray. It also give the list of distributers nearby from where farmer can order the recommended fertilizer

HARVESTING STEP:

Issues: During harvesting time, most of the harvesters will be over-booked due to which the farmer face issues while booking the harvesters for cultivation.

App Solution: The app will help to estimate the best harvest time for the cultivation, and also provide the option to pre book the harvesters for the recommended harvesting dates.

CROPS SELLING STEP:

Issues: Farmers are unaware for list of all the buyers available at the location and the prices offered for their crops.

App Solution: App will help to show the farmers all the buyers nearby to them with the prices they are offering. Apart from this it also estimate the total amount of crops can be cultivate and how much farmer can earn by selling them.

How we built it

The proposed solution is built on PEGA v8.7.3 and we have utilised the latest features available. Pega Case Management has been used to create the case type and above mentioned issues has been implemented as stages in the case type. We had utilized the data type to store data and fetch the data for recommending the best seeds, fertilizer, irrigation techniques, harvesting time, and sellers list.

Challenges we ran into

Extensive research was required to understand the all the farming techniques with different type of crops. The scope of the this application is so huge that it was not possible to built all the features.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

By using the AUTO FARM app, any one with zero background knowledge on farming can do the farming as the app will cover all the stages of farming and it also recommend all the required things like type and amount seeds or type or amount of fertilizer or when to harvest or where to sell.

What we learned

We learned the the complete farming process and prediction of crops or seed or fertilizer based on the location and area data. We learned how to utilize the various case management features.

What's next for Auto Farm

Using the decisioning framework and Adaptive Models for the best prediction of all the recommendation.
Integrating with the Govt API to get the government seeds and fertilizer stores as well as for the subsidy provided for farmers.
Integrating the weather API to check the rain prediction and based on that we recommend the best time for irrigation.
Utilizing the real time campaigns to timely alert the farmers when to do the seed sowing, best time to watering the crops ,fertilization, when to spray pesticides, alert for harvesting.
