Inspiration

We wanted to make Ring integrations more reliable while exploring a smarter delivery experience. Our vision was to recognize when a drone or delivery robot arrives, notify the homeowner, and trigger a doorbell reaction even when the delivery vehicle cannot physically ring it.

What it does

Greenlight scans Ring integration code, identifies potential issues, validates webhook behavior, diagnoses API connectivity, and assists with safe, AI-supported fixes. Our Auto Drone Recognition & Ring Reaction prototype demonstrates simulated delivery-email parsing, delivery ETA notifications, a virtual blue light and chime, drone/robot arrival events, parcel-reference verification, pickup approval, and a simulated safe-drop workflow.

How we built it

We combined repository scanning, webhook validation, Ring API diagnostics, deterministic code fixes, optional Amazon Bedrock analysis, MCP tooling, and GitHub Actions. We built a browser-based Delivery Concierge demo using sample delivery emails and simulated drone/robot events to demonstrate the complete user journey without requiring physical hardware.

Challenges we ran into

The main challenges were validating different Ring integration failure modes, making code fixes safe and reproducible, and connecting the delivery concept to real-world device capabilities. Live Gmail synchronization, camera-based drone recognition, physical Ring doorbell activation, and actual drone control remained beyond the verified prototype.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We built a tested integration-readiness toolkit with diagnostic and remediation workflows, developer-tooling support, and a delivery simulation covering notifications, parcel verification, and pickup decisions. Our recorded Python test run reported 85 passed and 2 skipped, giving us a foundation for further integration and deployment testing.

What we learned

We learned that reliable AI-assisted development requires evidence, deterministic validation, safe changes, and re-testing—not just generated code. We also learned to distinguish simulated demonstrations from verified live integrations and to design clear approval steps for delivery-related actions.

What's next for Auto Drone Recognition & Ring Reaction

We plan to integrate real email synchronization, investigate camera-based drone/robot recognition, and connect arrival events to supported Ring notification capabilities. Further work will focus on reliable parcel identification, configurable delivery alerts, homeowner approval, and safe-drop workflows, with live hardware and drone control explored only where supported and authorized.
