Inspiration

Driven by the desire to support families during April's Autism Awareness Month, we focused on the challenges faced by parents of autistic children. Witnessing the difficulty in understanding and responding effectively to their child's emotions and behaviors fueled our passion to create a solution.

What it does

Autism Support App empowers parents by offering a suite of tools within a single app:

  • AI-powered Emotion Analysis: Analyze your child's emotional state and receive personalized suggestions tailored to the situation.
  • Behavior Tracking & Analysis: Log your child's behaviors to identify patterns and gain insights with the help of AI analysis.
  • Actionable Recommendations: Get personalized recommendations based on your child's behavior data to create positive change.

How we built it

We leveraged React Native for a smooth user experience on mobile devices. The backend integration utilizes NodeJs. Specific functionalities like AI analysis are powered by Gemini AI.

Challenges we ran into

One of the key challenges was integrating gemini ai, The response from the ai wasnt as intended. We overcame this by having to append a lot of information and trimming and replacing some characters that came with the response.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud to have successfully built a functional MVP with core functionalities that we can go and use for user testing, get feedback and come back and use the feedback to improve on it.

What we learned

This hackathon has been a valuable learning experience. We gained expertise in integrating Gemini AI and developed a deeper understanding of the needs of parents with autistic children.

What's next for Autism Support

Our vision is to create a comprehensive support system. We plan to:

  • Integrate with wearables to collect passive behavior data.
  • Expand our reach by collaborating with special needs educators and doctor specialists to provide additional resources and insights within the app.
