COVID-19 has emphasized the need for more user friendly systems for low income and individuals in need to be able to access resources intended for them. When it comes to selecting low income housing, the current resources can be a little overwhelming.

As a team of beginners this was a really large task to take on. We hope our site acts as a starting point and a general concept of what other more experienced developers should do, or even ourselves further in our careers.

In the future, we will try and add google map distance APIs to be able to provide distances for these different addresses to vital resources like schools (which comes with the implication of busing vs. walking transportation for young students), grocery stores (which would be some indicator of if the residence is in a food desert), police stations (which would allow individuals to decide where they feel most comfortable based off their experience with law enforcement), fire stations, public parks, and other similar neighborhood information that might be found on a real estate website like Zillow. The intention is that the hosters of the site are unbiased 3rd parties with no monetary gain for if these residences are occupied or not, just to pass the information on to the individuals who need it.

The review feature would also be optimized for a login interface and verification that the indivdual who claims to have lived at a location can actually do so. Reviews would still be anonymous, but it would allow for better monitoring that no one is skewing the review data.

With a little more time and maybe a little more experience, this project would be of great use to the community.
