Aurarora – Your Always-On AI Therapist & Companion:
🌟 Inspiration
Aurarora was born from a simple but powerful idea: what if emotional support was as available as your phone? After seeing close friends struggle with anxiety, trauma, and loneliness—especially during late hours or in silence—we wanted to build a solution that felt human, empathetic, and always accessible. We were also inspired by the rising trend of AI companionship and the lack of culturally aware, trauma-informed AI tools in mental health.
💬 What It Does
Aurarora is a 24/7 AI-powered therapist + emotional companion that blends:
- 🧠 Clinical therapy (CBT, mindfulness, motivational interviewing)
- 🎤 Real-time conversational memory & adaptive tone
- 🎥 A Tavus-powered AI avatar that "feels" alive
- 📆 Integrated journaling, mood tracking, and mental health check-ins Aurarora meets users where they are—emotionally, culturally, and spiritually—and supports them like a close friend with therapist credentials.
🔧 How We Built It
- Frontend: React + Tailwind for sleek, mobile-friendly UX
- Backend: Langflow for AI logic and agent workflows
- AI Engine: OpenAI GPT-4 + custom fine-tuning for therapy use cases
- Voice/Video: Tavus for the avatar interface + Daily.co for video communication
- Data: Supabase for secure user data, journaling, and mood logs
- Security: Built with HIPAA/GDPR principles in mind for ethical user safety
🚧 Challenges We Ran Into
- Personalizing therapy without crossing ethical boundaries
- Keeping AI tone human, emotionally intelligent, and responsive
- Voice + video syncing with Tavus + Daily under time constraints
- Making the experience feel warm and real—not robotic
- Testing in emotionally sensitive scenarios like relapse or trauma flashbacks
🏆 Accomplishments That We're Proud Of
- Built a fully functional AI therapist with live memory + mood tracking
- Integrated real CBT/DBT techniques into AI flows
- Designed a soothing, Gen Z–friendly UI that doesn't feel like "just another chatbot"
- Created something that real people said they'd use after just one test

- Cultural sensitivity, tone, and micro-expressions matter in emotional AI
