Inspiration

Post Covid, plenty of local businesses and small business shut down due to the fact that people weren't able to buy things from them in person. We noticed a huge problem for family run small businesses and local shops to compete in such a technological dependent market which leaves them out of business. AuraMax solves their problem and create a community that supports and invests in each other. Small shop owners don't have the reach to get funding at investment competitions or programs and end up being at an disadvantage.

What it does

AuraMax provides users to micro-invest in local small businesses where any person can become an investor and invest as little as 5 dollars into local shops near them to fund them and also earn a percentage of their profit depending on how much they invest. The bigger picture is to bring local communities together and build a connection. A market place for shop owners to get crow-funding through their communities and sustain their business through community investments.

How we built it

We used react native expo libraries to make features such as navigation tabs, user profiles, charts, and more. We started off with planning and trying to solve the hair on fire problem for small local businesses. then we designed our app using figma and brainstormed the workflow of our application. Then, it was time for implementation.

Challenges we ran into

We ran into challenges getting data for small businesses near the users. Also, managing every task within 36 hours. Also, we spent hours trying to figure out how to implement Knot's UI and it turned out it wasn't possible to implement it in expo which costed us time.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of the fact that we stayed consistent with our hard work and dedication for making the application. Moreover, the networking that we were able to do and gain so much knowledge was priceless.

What we learned

We learned that the act of showing up always goes in your favor because you miss 100% of the shots that you don't take

What's next for AuraMax

We would like to pitch it at the NYBPC and other start up competition and get investment to run this app completely.
