Auralog

Inspiration

I've suffered from migraines since I was a small child, and the tools I've had often require a lot of uphill effort, especially when I'm in pain or can't even see. I wanted to build a solution that makes recording your migraines the least amount of steps possible while being as widely accessible as possible because they often rob me of my sight and even speech. Other folks experience different problems and sensory setback, so I wanted to win that battle. But getting and recording migraines are half of the battle. I want something that'll help me prevent them from happening, so I added a trigger system that will rank triggers and show them to me front and center to educate me on what could be causing these awful things. I also capture weather and sleep information from HealthKit to consider whether or not health and environmental factors might be causing trouble too. Essentially, this project aspires to be the best tool that a migraine sufferer can use, and who better than a migraine sufferer to make it?

What it does

Auralog logs your migraines while intelligently capturing your triggers, both that you supply and from the environment via WeatherKit and HealthKit. Each migraine is meant to bring you closer to stopping the next one from happening.

How we built it

I used Foundation Models, SwiftUI, HealthKit, and WeatherKit.

Challenges we ran into

The design is the biggest thing to get right, because high-effort entries are really hard to manage during a migraine, so it had to be so simple and minimal for that functionality. I'm super pleased with what came form it.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

A tighter design is something I'm so happy I was able to do.

What we learned

Well, I learned to say no to things, which should help me in the future to continue to ship things. The goal here was to commit, ship, and rock on.

What's next for Auralog

I hope folks use it and it genuinely helps them enjoy more of their life as it's meant to be.
