Inspiration
Aura photography makes beautiful visualizations of people's auras, but I don't have access to it! What if I could get my aura photographed from my computer π€?
How it works
- auracam takes your photo and sends the photo to the Hume AI API for emotion analysis.
- Hume's API returns a list of detected emotions with their corresponding scores
- auracam then generates a gradient overlay based on the top detected emotions, with each emotion represented by a specific color
- analyzed photo is displayed in a Polaroid-style frame with the emotion gradient overlay, creating an "aura" effect
Challenges we ran into
I only know a little front endβI'm a product designer ok! So obviously coding this was the most tedious part for me. HTML and animations can get complicated.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I got it done! This is the first website I've ever coded from scratch!
What we learned
I started the hackathon with big ideas, but I realized that what's most important to me is doing things well. I wanted to do something simple where I could focus on learning and creating something beautiful that I actually enjoyed using. I also learned about Sublime Merge, Render, and that I don't need to delete my .env files every time I commit π.
