Getting ready used to feel like a daily challenge — hours spent staring at my wardrobe, scrolling endlessly through shopping apps, and still ending up unsure what to wear. Budget limits made it even harder to find stylish, affordable options that suited different occasions. That’s what inspired Aura — your AI-powered, budget-friendly personal stylist. With Gemini’s image analysis capabilities, Aura helps you look your best effortlessly, saving both time and money.

What It Does

Aura brings together powerful AI and smart styling to simplify your fashion choices.

  1. Wardrobe Intelligence: Upload your wardrobe photos, and Aura automatically classifies your clothes. Based on the occasion, it suggests complete outfits and styling tips, along with affordable pieces to complement your collection.
  2. Outfit Rating: Upload a selfie, and Aura will rate your outfit using Gemini’s image understanding. It tells you what works well and what could be improved for the occasion you’re dressing for.
  3. Outfit of the Day: Aura checks the weather and your calendar to recommend the perfect outfit each morning — so you can skip the indecision and start your day confidently.
  4. Fashion Chatbot: A built-in AI assistant that answers all your fashion-related questions and gives personalized style guidance in real time.

How We Built It

  1. Frontend & API: Developed using React.js with TypeScript for a fast, modern web experience and efficient server-side API routes.
  2. Database: Used SQLite to manage user wardrobe data, outfit ratings, and history.
  3. AI Engine: Powered by Gemini API for outfit analysis, rating, and chatbot responses.
  4. Weather Intelligence: Integrated Weather API to suggest weather-appropriate outfits daily.

Challenges We Faced

  1. Training and optimizing the image recognition and classification models took longer than expected.
  2. Integrating multiple APIs — Gemini, Weather, and our database — while maintaining a seamless user experience required careful coordination.
