Inspiration

It is important to know about our whereabouts and surroundings where we live in. Recently i was shifting to a new place in India and it felt weird that we know nothing about the new place. Hence knowing factors such as how many thefts have occured here or number of dengue diseases have occured here could be known by this app. It gives basic yet essential details for our safety and healthcare.

What it does

The application requires users to populate the database for other users. For example if a person is suffering from dengue, or a place in the locality has caught fire, the user can report it on the application. This way other users can view the number of diseases occuring or the number of calamities occuring in the area.

How we built it

This is an android application and we have built it using android studio. the viewing of maps is done using the google maps api and as the database we are using firebase.

Challenges we ran into

A crucial challenge in this application os population of fake data. People/kids could populate the databse just for fun. To combat this we are taking the mobile number of each person registration as authentication.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Making an application which is user friendly and experience friendly was the main aim of our project. This application could also be used to learn about covid cases in area using effective implementation of data visualisation on the map.

What we learned

An idea is just not enough for it to be successful. A solution gives birth to further more issues adding on to the pipeline and hence needs a recursive approach to get a final working product.

What's next for AURA

Having support of government agencies and NGOs could help us better depict the issue in area and can also help report issues to the people living in that area.
