Inspiration
When sharing music on Instagram stories, people would usually use screen shots or the share option on their music app with a plain background. Even if they used the music sticker, it is not well integrated with the photo or video they have in the background. Stories like this, people, myself included, skip to the next story because is not interesting. I wanted to come up with a way of sharing music that attracts attention and looks nice in any environment.
I named this effect, audio playAR in hopes that people won't feel restricted to just sharing their favourite song. There is room for the users to get creative and share other forms of audio such as podcasts, presentations, speeches, etc.
What it does
Users can share their song by first selecting the album cover from their camera roll and playing the song in the background. Once pressed record, audio visualiser bars will start reacting to the sound. By tapping and pinching, users can reposition and resize the effect. With the sleek look, this effect will go with any background.
How I built it
I built this using 21 cubes from AR Library. The animations and textures are all made using patches.
Challenges I ran into
It took a while to come up with the placement of each objects. I also had difficulty making the bars expand only on the y axis with the audio analyser but I managed to come up with the solution.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
I am happy and proud that I managed to build this effect with just patches and assets found on AR Library. Also, this allowed me to achieve the simplicity that I wanted for this effect so I am happy about that too.
What I learned
I learned that null objects are quite useful.
What's next for audio playAR
I want to make the effect work with Instagram Music once it is available to all countries and devices.
