Use Case Title:

Audio Note for Group Study Session

Description:

The use case involves the application of the AI tool, AudioNotes, in group study sessions. The target audience is students and solves the problem of missing out on important points during a discussion, as it transcribes spoken words into written text, allowing participants to focus on the conversation

Tutorial for Use and Best Practices:

Access the AudioNotes platform Head over to AudioNotes and create an account (it’s free!) and sign in. Once logged in, you’ll be taken to the dashboard. How to use AudioNotes: You start by clicking on the blue mic icon to record your audio. Make sure you set the transcription and summary language to your desired languages. Also set the output to “Meeting Notes” by clicking on the icon under default setting You can also choose to upload an already discussed audio by clicking on the “Upload” button. Wait for the AI to transcribe your audio Reviewing and share the notes: Review the transcribed summary. You can download the recorded audio or regenerate the transcribed summary. If you wish to share the note, you can head to the “Saved Notes” folder icon and share it via Whatsapp, Email or Twitter [Optional] Customizing Notes with follow-up Questions Use the “Content” button and click on Custom Prompts”. You will see a pop-up box, type in the title “Group Discussion” and type the prompt “Generate related questions along with a summary”. The notes will be regenerated with a set of questions which students can discuss in their next meeting.

Impacts on Learning:

This use case affects the note-taking aspect of learning. Without it, students might miss out on important points while trying to jot down notes. The advantage of this use case over others is that it allows students to fully engage in discussions without the distraction of note-taking, enhancing their learning experience.

Limitations and Ethical Considerations:

Limitations: The use case might hinder learning if the AI tool does not accurately transcribe the audio, leading to misinformation. Biases might come into play if the AI tool struggles with certain accents or dialects, leading to inaccurate transcriptions. To ensure the validity of the AI-generated results, it's important to review and edit the transcriptions. Ethical Considerations: The AudiNotes AI tool has its limitations. It might occasionally provide inaccurate transcriptions of the audio. Moreover, consistent internet access and platform availability are prerequisites, potentially excluding some students.

What's next for Audio Notes for Group Study Sessions

Inspiration

The inspiration for using the AudioNotes AI tool in group study sessions came from the realization that a lot of valuable information gets lost in these sessions. Students often miss out on important points while trying to jot down notes. We wanted to create a solution that allows students to fully engage in discussions without the distraction of note-taking.

What I Learned

Through this project, I learned about the power of AI in transforming learning experiences. I discovered how speech recognition technology can be used to transcribe audio into text, making it easier for students to review and recall information from their study sessions. I also learned about the potential biases in AI tools and the importance of reviewing and editing AI-generated results to ensure their validity.

How I Built the Project

The project involved integrating the AudioNotes AI tool into our group study sessions. Here's a step-by-step guide on how we did it:

  1. We accessed the AudioNotes platform.
  2. We chose to record audio notes directly during our study sessions.
  3. We set our preferred language, style, and length for the summary.
  4. After the AI tool transcribed our audio notes, we reviewed and made amendments if required.
  5. We used the built-in content generator functions to convert our notes into suitable content for emails, posts, or meeting minutes.

Challenges Faced

One of the main challenges we faced was ensuring the accuracy of the AI-generated transcriptions. At times, the AI tool struggled with certain accents or dialects, leading to inaccurate transcriptions. To overcome this, we made it a point to review and edit the transcriptions after each session. We also had to ensure that the tool was placed in a position where it could clearly capture all voices during the session.

Overall, this project was a great learning experience. It not only enhanced our group study sessions but also gave us valuable insights into the capabilities and limitations of AI tools.
