Inspiration

YouTube comments contain product feedback, objections, questions, and content ideas, but useful signals are difficult to review when they are scattered across long threads. AudienceCue was built to turn that public feedback into evidence people can inspect instead of an AI summary they have to trust blindly.

What it does

AudienceCue helps creators, marketers, researchers, and agencies download public YouTube comments and turn them into cited audience reports.

  • Start with a supported public video, Short, live-video page, channel, playlist, or bounded URL list.
  • Save returned comments and available public replies with source links and useful metadata.
  • Export source data as CSV, JSON, TXT, or bounded XLSX.
  • Generate audience, competitor, sentiment, launch, education, or sponsorship-risk reports whose important findings stay tied to source evidence.
  • Share a controlled read-only report or export it as HTML, Markdown, or JSON.

AudienceCue is read-only with respect to YouTube channels. It does not auto-reply, moderate, delete, pin, heart, or publish.

How we built it

AudienceCue is a TypeScript web application built with Next.js, React, and Tailwind CSS. Supabase provides authentication and the PostgreSQL-backed product data layer. Server-side services manage YouTube Data API access, bounded collection jobs, exports, AI report generation, entitlement checks, and shareable report delivery. The application is deployed on Vercel.

Challenges

The hardest part was keeping every layer honest: YouTube may not return deleted, hidden, private, restricted, or temporarily unavailable comments; large exports need explicit bounds; and AI findings need a reviewable path back to the source rows. The product therefore keeps provider limitations visible, separates collection from report generation, and avoids automatic channel actions.

What we learned

Audience research becomes much more useful when the raw material, the interpretation, and the delivery artifact remain connected. A cited report lets a creator or client move quickly without losing the ability to inspect why a conclusion was made.
