Inspiration

People can have more than 100 items in their wardrobe and still struggle with the daily question: “What should I wear?” I was one of them. While working at Meesho, I saw people buying more and more clothes, but buying more didn’t seem to solve the problem. Conversations with people around me made it clear I wasn’t alone. With personal style playing such a big role in how we express ourselves, this frustration felt worth addressing. Having spent my career solving problems at scale, I wanted to tackle this one too. That’s how Attira started.

What it does

Attira is an AI-powered personal stylist built around your wardrobe, preferences, and occasion. It helps you put together looks from clothes you already own and get advice that feels personal to you. The experience is designed to make getting started interactive and rewarding: ask for a little information, give something useful in return, and build understanding gradually rather than making users do all the work upfront.

How we built it

We started with fashion intelligence: building a system that can recognise clothing and understand how pieces work together. We then focused on personalisation, understanding the person behind the wardrobe—their taste, comfort, and context. Bringing these two layers together, we’re building a non-judgemental friend who also happens to be a fashion expert.

Challenges we ran into

The biggest challenges have been making recommendations genuinely personal, simplifying wardrobe uploads, and understanding users without overwhelming them with questions. We’ve had to balance the information needed for useful advice with how much effort we ask of users.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Launching Attira on both iOS and Android was a major milestone. The App Store launch came after more than a month of back-and-forth with Apple’s review team. Since launch, we’ve been learning from real users and using their feedback to improve the product every day.

What we learned

Good styling is about more than matching clothes. It requires understanding someone’s taste, comfort, and context. We also learned that users are more willing to put in effort when they receive value in return. Asking for information gradually works better than collecting everything upfront.

What's next for Attira

We’re working on easier wardrobe setup, deeper personalisation, and voice conversations with the stylist. The goal is a stylist in your pocket who remembers you, understands what you like, and makes everyday dressing easier.## Inspiration People can have more than 100 items in their wardrobe and still struggle with the daily question: “What should I wear?” I was one of them.
