Inspiration

We were inspired to help others by helping society as well as the population. As well as this, we were inspired to use AI so that we could benefit society in a good way, assisting people recognize others in a relatively easy way.

What it does

The app will take a picture of a certain group of individuals. With the help of AI as well as Face Recognition, the app will then identify who is who in the picture. The picture will be based on previous pictures of certain individuals so that the AI can match a picture of an individual person with the person in the group photo.

How we built it

First, we started with Face Recognition and CV2. This was useful for setting up the face recognizer environment and furthermore, contributed to the success of this app. Next, we used Flask to store the data of the individuals so that they could be referenced when an image was taken. Finally, we have the HTML code, where the scenery actually happens. Users are greeted with a webpage as well as a button to snap the photo and from there, the AI does its job.

Challenges we ran into

A major challenge that we ran into was with Face Recognition as it took sometime to set up. But as a team, we were able to overcome this challenge and get the code to work.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We were proud with how the project turned out. Though it may need some improvements, it was a success overall and is functional as well.

What we learned

We have learned about how using AI can help change the world. We also learned how to use this AI so that we could track the faces of others when given the names.

What's next for Person Finder

The person finder will revolutionize the way big organizations such as the government are able to track citizens. This will be great for helping fight crime, track individuals, help others figure out where loved ones are in a random image, etc. The possibilities are endless and this app will help those people with the help of AI.
