Inspiration

Small-business owners are expected to do far more than run the business they are actually experts in. A realtor becomes a photographer and content creator. A restaurant owner becomes a food photographer and marketer. A maker becomes a designer and social-media manager. A contractor has to research opportunities and build a professional digital presence.

AI can help, but simply giving a business owner access to a powerful model does not solve the problem. They still have to choose tools, understand prompting, provide the right context, iterate on outputs, and connect multiple AI products together.

That inspired attainDesk.

Our core belief is simple: small-business owners should not have to learn AI - they should be able to put AI to work.

What it does

attainDesk turns common small-business needs into guided, business-specific AI workflows.

From one workspace, businesses can:

Create social-media content Virtually stage real-estate listings Turn property images into property video tours Create short promotional product videos Transform ordinary food photos into polished menu and marketing images Generate business logos Create professional headshots Generate branded meeting backgrounds Use Daily Digest to discover relevant market developments, local business groups, events, and opportunities

attainDesk is designed for a broad range of small businesses, including real estate, food, manufacturing, construction, education, clothing, and professional services.

The individual features are different, but the goal is the same: help a small business understand its market, present itself professionally, reach customers, and grow without needing a large specialist team.

How we built it

attainDesk was built AI-native from day one.

We began by prototyping workflows in Google AI Studio. As the product evolved, we substantially used Gemini-powered coding agents and Google Antigravity for architecture brainstorming, coding, testing, debugging, and iteration. We also used Google Stitch in our frontend design process.

In production, attainDesk uses an asynchronous architecture designed for AI workloads. Firebase Cloud Functions and Cloud Tasks orchestrate generation jobs, while Firestore and Cloud Storage manage job state and generated assets. It also uses authentication, logging and analytics features provided by Firebase and Google Cloud.

attainDesk uses Gemini APIs across text generation and analysis, image generation and editing, video, speech, and Google Search-grounded intelligence.

AI also helps us operate attainDesk itself. We use it for market analysis, customer targeting, UX development, debugging, and documentation.

Challenges we ran into

One of our biggest challenges was avoiding the temptation to simply put powerful AI models behind generic prompt boxes.

Small-business owners usually do not want to become prompt engineers. They want an outcome. That pushed us to build workflows around what the business is trying to accomplish, while abstracting much of the prompting and AI complexity behind the experience.

A second challenge was supporting very different AI workloads - text, images, video, research, and other media - without exposing the underlying complexity to users. Some operations complete quickly, while others are computationally intensive and asynchronous. Our Cloud Tasks and Firebase architecture helped us manage those workloads while keeping the user experience straightforward.

We also had to continually distinguish between features that were technically impressive and those that created genuine value for small businesses. Early customer usage has been important in helping us make those decisions.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud that AttainDesk moved from an idea to a functioning SaaS business during the hackathon period.

Today, 13 real businesses across industries including real estate, food, manufacturing, construction, education, and clothing are using attainDesk.

We reached those initial businesses with $0 in paid marketing spend, through founder-led outreach, organic reach, and word of mouth.

We have also generated our first subscription revenue on a $49/month (+taxes) plan.

One accomplishment is particularly meaningful to us: our own Daily Digest surfaced local business groups and events relevant to our target customers. We used those insights to focus our outreach, and that effort ultimately led to our first paying customer.

In other words, we are already using attainDesk to help grow AttainDesk.

What we learned

Our biggest learning is that access to AI is not the same as successful AI adoption.

The opportunity is not simply to give small businesses more AI tools. It is to translate increasingly powerful models into workflows that match the jobs business owners actually need done.

We also learned the value of starting with a small group of real businesses rather than immediately spending money to acquire users. Keeping early growth organic gave us the opportunity to observe how businesses actually use the product, identify which workflows resonate most, and iterate rapidly before scaling distribution.

Perhaps most importantly, we learned that the best AI experience can sometimes feel like there is less AI, not more - the user describes the business outcome they need, while much of the model selection, prompting, context, and complexity happens behind the scenes.

What's next for attainDesk

Our next phase is focused on distribution and deeper business intelligence.

With a growing set of workflows validated by early users, we plan to expand the customer base while continuing to improve the product based on real usage.

We also want attainDesk to understand more context about each business - its market, customers, goals, brand, and opportunities - so that owners need to provide less information repeatedly and can move from business intent to execution with even less trial and error.

Over time, our goal is for AttainDesk to become a workspace where a small-business owner can increasingly start with an objective rather than a tool:

“Help me market this property.” “Help me promote this product.” “Help me find opportunities to grow.”

…and let AI handle more of the work required to get there.

Our long-term thesis is simple:

Small businesses may never have the resources of a large company. With AI, they may no longer need to.
