Inspiration

The Ivo de Carneri Institute is a secondary school in the Autonomous Province of Trento. For ten years it has been developing an innovative pathway used to manage all classroom educational content. This year they decided to implement a new didactic approach with a blended ("hybrid or mixed") learning, combining traditional classroom methods and distance learning. The project was called ATS_BLEA.

This "hybrid" learning favors:

  • more efficient learning: the teacher makes the most of the time spent in the classroom, with the opportunity to spend more time clarifying the doubts and testing the students' level of understanding of the various topics;

  • more effective learning: by combining classroom training with online training, students are given the opportunity to access the content at any time and learn at their own pace. This can maximize their learning motivation and active involvement in educational activities with frequent online interactions, as well classroom based work, reinforcing the development of critical thinking. By operating online, within the ATS_BLEA community, students systematically integrate and absorb knowledge from other peers, improve their communication and interaction skills and develop digital skill., The connection between the digital world and the real world helps students to find, select and make the most of knowledge provided by documents and tutorials, subject matter experts on the web.

What it does

We have created an application for the automatic monitoring of activity and dynamic interaction with any student who takes a distance learning lesson in order to validate and certify interaction with a training unit, also through two-way interactions with the user.

How I built it

The student takes the lesson through the Google Classroom application. The application uses the following APIs:

Google Classroom API G Suite Admin SDK Reports API

The information obtained is stored on a local mysql database The support logic is developed with the php language.
