Inspiration
As we all know mother earth is in danger and it is increasing day by day. I saw the danger and tried to eliminate it with my engineering skill to make our earth a better place to live
What it does
Current Scenario It is clear that electricity and heat production is the biggest factor behind Greenhouse gas emissions at 25%. AtmoGreen strives to utilize the renewable source of energy to produce electricity. Our Idea Using the piston effect of Metro trains in a tunnel to generate power, which can be utilized by consumers in numerous ways When a metro moves in the tunnel it acts like a position cylinder arrangement where the metro acts like a piston while the tunnel acts as a cylinder pushes air present in front of it. The velocity of these air is so high that they (DMRC) need to make an exit plan for these and a result of which they discharge only 20% of the air on the platform. We at Atmogrren are trying to utilize this air and use it to generate green energy which is directly supplied to the grid of Delhi metro
How I built it
Turbine design To harness this energy, we will install our custom-designed wind turbines(Vertical Axis) at the ends of tunnels. The specifications of these turbines are such that maximum air passes through them and maximum efficiency is obtained. This electricity production directly reduces the amount of fossil fuels used to generate electricity, hence reducing greenhouse gas emissions and climate change. This production will be accessible in grids and transmission lines which easily account for over a million consumers in less than a decade Statistical view 4 turbines are installed at one platform, hence 8 at a station. According to the data collected by AtmoGreen from DMRC (Janakpuri West Metro Station), platforms generate 3060 Kg CO2 on an average, daily for electricity production by burning about 1070 Kg coal. We are directly replacing 14.8 million Kg of coal per year used earlier, with this initiative. This will directly reduce 42.2 million Kg of CO2 from the atmosphere.
Challenges I ran into
The biggest challenge is seeking government permissions to implement the project another is to plant all these turbines in a place so that not only they are most efficient but also can maintain safety standards
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
Got recognition from Delhi Metro and was allowed to do various tunnel inspection and also Secured first position in HULT prize competition and got a chance to present the idea at international platform
