Our Data Collection Challenge

Good Neighbor Fund provides micro-grants to under-resourced, ideation-stage founders, empowering them to launch and grow their business. However, tracking the long-term success and economic impact of these grant recipients remains a significant challenge. To better understand and demonstrate the effectiveness of our micro-grants, we need a tech-based solution that enables comprehensive tracking of grant recipient business success and their long-term economic impact.

What it does

Our solution is the Good Neighbor Network: a twofold portal for both Founders, and Funders. Founders can use this portal to view data analytics that were accessed through the Founders' Customer Relations Management system (HubSpot is recommended). This data can be imported into GNF's own CRM, which would then be displayed in the Funder's end of the portal.

How we built it

Due to the time constraints, creating a physical product /addition to GNF's website was not feasible at this time. However, using Canva, we have designed an interface and accompanying features that would make the most sense to develop if we had the time.

Challenges we ran into

We tried to use Figma to design the layout of the website. However, it turned to be hard to navigate for us and we ended up switching to Canva. We also had issues coming up with novel ideas for data collection that were also feasible. For instance, we had an idea of automating the data collection process but abandoned it due to privacy/security concerns.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

One accomplishment that our team is proud of is a visualization we created for an expanded website. We added a page on the website specifically for founders and funders in order to give them a more customized experience in exploring the company and its ideals. This will be a place for users to see success stories from past founders and metrics that display our progress. Another accomplishment for us was thinking of a new and improved data collection system that requires less maintenance.

What we learned

Throughout this two day experience, one of the most important things that we learned is how to work in a very collaborative group of people with different skill sets. This was difficult because our group often had different ideas and opposing preferred approaches, however we were able to advocate for our ideas in a productive and respectful manner. Additionally, we were able to creatively solve a hard challenge with many restraints.

What's next for Atlas Tech

Long term, we plan to have a bigger focus on marketing and advertising in order to secure more funding. With additional funding, we would have the funds to both support more founders and better automated data collection processes. We plan to automate the data collection pipeline and leverage a large language model to improve accuracy and efficiency in their business analytics.
