Inspiration
Earth to Mars communication is a real challenge. There can be issues in live streamed camera feeds latency delays while operating the rover. Reconstruction of Mars terrain and images based on data also takes a large amount of time. Losing communication and making a wrong decision can mean the loss of billions in money, and a significant hurdle for scientific research.
What it does
By utilizing SGA AR technology to process the depth camera and 360 degree camera feeds, they can be converted into 3D reconstructions of the terrain. This can then be compressed and sent back to Earth base stations by utilizing pre-existing satellite communication arrays. This can then be utilized by scientists, researchers and tele-operators to analyze and make decisions based on the 3D maps.

This is a novel idea - on the boundaries of robotics, AR, and space tech. Working out the details of how this can be implemented, what problems it solves and how we can contribute to pushing the boundaries of exploration using technologies excites us!

Potentially taking this idea a step forward and actually implementing it.
