Inspiration
Improve our existing website build process Other B2B SaaS company websites
What it does
Acts as a framework to build thoughtfully designed B2B software websites on top of
How we built it
One developer One designer One product manager Used CMS boilerplate as a starting point. Modified the way that we develop inside the page editor to create guardrails for the user
Challenges we ran into
Time (took much longer than expected) First theme we’ve built outside of HubSpot’s CMS - this was a new workflow for us Thinking about architecture for user – connecting everything from top-down, making it usable, flexible, keeping best- practices in mind Making the theme extensible – it was difficult to balance flexibility with technical soundness – there were lots of details to account for and we had to often ask ourselves about the value of some modules.
Accomplishments that we’re proud of
Performance and page speed. Reached a page speed (and mobile scores) uncommon for many HubSpot themes Following best practices. We plan to use the theme for our own engagements – feel good that we’re starting from a strong foundation
What we learned
How to balance flexibility and usability, keep everything understandable How to structure and organize a theme project in a simple way.
What’s next for Atlas by Kalungi
Adding in more modules and functionality as we build websites using the theme. Looking to create a paid version in the future (!)
