Atlantis. The lost Pearl

Inspiration

AI offers an extraordinary creative range, allowing me to build vast mythological worlds alongside subtle emotional narratives. This inspired me to explore the mystery of Atlantis — a subject that had fascinated me for years. I had read modern research, speculative theories, fictional retellings, and even books whose authors claim memories of life in Atlantis. Yet for this project, I deliberately returned to the earliest sources: Plato’s Timaeus and Critias, the poetic origins of the legend itself. Throughout the process, ideas seemed to appear from everywhere — as if someone kept whispering clues. That’s how the fish-butterflies emerged as a symbol of two worlds meeting, how the unsteady choir of voices I once overheard in a church found its place, and how the phrase “Blessed to surrender gathered warmth to the ocean” surfaced. At times it felt as though the story itself was revealing its next steps.

What it does

"Atlantis. The Lost Pearl" is a poetic short film about love, memory, and hope set against the fall of a legendary civilization. During a wedding ceremony, as Atlantis collapses, the couple’s union becomes a vow to preserve love beyond worlds, even as their city sinks into myth. Drawing from Plato’s accounts, fragments of poetry, and the timeless themes of duality, loss, and rebirth, the film creates a cinematic tapestry of fragile beauty and quiet dread. Visuals evoke the surreal grace of fashion and mythology, while voices echo like scattered remnants of a forgotten chronicle. The film blends myth, fashion imagery, philosophical themes, and real poetic sources into an atmospheric, dreamlike narrative.

How we built it

The film is entirely AI-generated — video, lip-sync, voiceover, and music. Worldbuilding, character design, underwater atmosphere, symbolic elements, and the integration of literary quotes were all developed through iterative prompt work and visual exploration.

Challenges we ran into

AI is a powerful creative partner, but not always predictable. So I ran into some technical challenges: keeping character consistency, managing underwater light and physics, achieving precise lip-sync, guiding AI toward subtle emotion.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I created a visual mythology rooted in ancient texts, blending epic world-building with intimate emotional themes. A rich symbolic language emerged — from the crocodile as a silent witness of time to the fish-butterflies uniting air, land, and sea. These layered symbols formed the film’s poetic core, showing how AI can meaningfully support cinematic storytelling with sincerity, depth, and visual imagination.

What we learned

I learned that an artificial intelligence, though not alive, can evoke profoundly real emotions. I witnessed tears in the eyes of viewers and heard deeply personal reflections from those who watched the film — proof that digital storytelling can touch something very human. I also discovered how rapidly and intensely AI-driven creation unfolds. The speed of iteration forces you to experience and process a project much faster than with traditional art forms. I realized I needed intentional pauses — moments to breathe, reflect, and understand the story before moving on. Working with AI taught me to navigate both the acceleration and the stillness, finding balance between them.

What's next for Atlantis. The lost Pearl

I’m now working on a new film set in our own world — but seen as multidimensional, nonlinear in time, and alive with different layers of energy. I want to reveal the familiar as something vast and strange, shaped by forces we rarely notice. And I use an AI model (LoRA) trained on my own selfies as the main character. Let’s see where this journey leads.
