Inspiration

Sports fans, coaches, and aspiring athletes often have access to statistics but struggle to understand what those numbers actually mean. We wanted to build a platform that not only displays player data but also uses AI to transform it into meaningful insights. AthletiQ AI was created to make sports analytics simple, interactive, and accessible to everyone.

What it does

AthletiQ AI is an AI-powered sports analytics platform that allows users to search for any athlete and instantly view detailed player information, including team, position, age, career statistics, and injury status. It also generates interactive charts to visualize performance trends and uses AI to provide performance summaries, strengths, weaknesses, injury insights, and personalized scouting reports.

How we built it

We built AthletiQ AI as a one-page web application using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. We integrated a sports data API to retrieve real player information, Chart.js to visualize player statistics, and the Gemini API to generate AI-powered analysis and recommendations. The application combines live sports data with AI to create an engaging analytics dashboard.

Challenges we ran into

One of the biggest challenges was working with different sports data sources, as not every API provides the same level of detail for every player or sport. We also had to design prompts that enabled the AI to generate accurate and useful insights based on the available statistics while keeping the interface simple and responsive.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud of building a platform that combines live sports data, data visualization, and AI into a single experience. Instead of simply displaying statistics, AthletiQ AI helps users understand player performance through interactive analytics and easy-to-read AI insights.

What we learned

This project taught us how powerful AI becomes when combined with real-world data. We also learned the importance of presenting analytics visually, making complex sports statistics easier to understand for both casual fans and experienced analysts.

What's next for AthletiQ AI

Our next goal is to support more sports, integrate additional sports data providers, and provide deeper analytics such as season comparisons, injury prediction, player similarity analysis, and match performance forecasting. We also plan to add team analytics, personalized dashboards, and AI-powered recommendations for coaches, scouts, and fantasy sports enthusiasts.
