Inspiration

Education and entertainment should go hand in hand, that’s been our guiding vision to make learning enjoyable and life more engaging. Inspired by this idea, we set out to create an app that seamlessly blends storytelling with education, bringing both together under one cohesive experience.

What it does

Athena’s Digital Realm allows users to:

Generate personalized AI-powered stories from their memories converts them into books and comics they could live through by implementing it in AR.
Learn anatomy and science through interactive 3D models in both web (Three.js) and mobile AR (Unity)
Interact naturally using gestures (MediaPipe), touch, and mouse

How we built it

Three.js, X codeAR Foundation, ARKit (iOS), and Unity for 3D/AR models and interaction (web and mobile)
Google Gemini and Echo for AI-generated stories and educational content
MediaPipe for gesture and hand tracking
Node.js, Express, MongoDB for backend and data management

Challenges we ran into

Hand tracking consistency differed between devices. We had plans to extend our learning labs beyond anatomy to other subjects as well, but time limitations restricted our progress.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Built a robust dual-mode app with a cohesive mythology-based design
Brought our vision to life — as visual learners, we designed what we always wished we had in school: a 3D, story-driven way of learning that makes education fun and personal.
Through our story-generation feature, users can explore lessons inspired by their own lives in an engaging, comic-style format.
Delivered both interactive AR/mobile and web-based 3D experiences
Achieved reliable performance across devices and platforms
