What is Athena?
Athena is a non-profit subscription-based service which provides tangible results in increasing the number of women and non binary applicants and improving the gender ratio of a workplace as well as providing diverse and inclusive for current employees. Workplaces looking to increase their gender ratio and making their workplace more inclusive can approach Athena and choose one out of our two subscriptions to avail our facilities which include services like: Certifying the workplace on being inclusive following our various measurement models and parameters; Conversion of all job descriptions to gender-neutral language; Monitoring visuals of the demographics represented in the company’s advertisements, leadership bios, photos on the website; Administering the Implicit Association Test to help coworkers realize their own biases since acknowledging that we all have biases is often a very important first step toward deeper diversity & inclusion conversations. And many more.
Future Goals?
We aim to take Athena on a national level in our respective countries. We plan on generating awareness through social media, our local communities, legislators and decision makers.
What accomplishments are we proud of?
We're proud of the fact that Athena is a non-profit and all its donations go towards supporting women-held small businesses. We're also proud of creating The Athena Forum which is a safe space for any employee to come forward with issues such as Sexual Harassment or any workplace related issue and The Athena Forum is there for them 24/7
How did we build it?
After a lot of brainstorming sessions, we created Athena's website using the HTML and CSS languages. It was a collective team effort and we learned a lot about each other as well.
