Inspiration
We drew inspiration from our shared love of games and the variety of games we play. We used concepts from game genres such as rhythm games, shooter games, and fixed-shooter games. We designed the characters based on what we all enjoy and find fun and interesting. We created a game we all wanted to play.
What it does
It is a fixed-shooter game where you have to dodge projectiles and gain as many points as possible. You have to watch the progress bar to estimate when it will get harder, and keep an eye on your health points. Additionally, using various markers, you can see when a projectile is about to strike. It uses fun music to make it engaging and is paired with movements and gestures to make the graphics more interesting.
How we built it
We built it using AI, feeding our ideas into it using prompts to specify what we wanted to include. We also used hand-drawn graphics to make the game feel more enhanced and special to us. All the backgrounds are hand-drawn, as well as all the sprites.
Challenges we ran into
Making our game unique and fun while still keeping it original was a challenge for us, because we wanted to only take inspiration from games we enjoy and not copy.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Making a game that works, with smooth editing and graphics, that we all made using our own creativity and gaming expertise.
What we learned
We learned how to utilize AI to create an advanced game that has interactive buttons, moving graphics, and tracking projectiles.
What's next for astrocat
We hope to create more levels with better gameplay and difficulty, expanding on our ideas and building on what we already made. We hope to use our knowledge and apply it to future projects and hackathons, being able to create better projects in the same amount of time. Using our experience as a starting point to grow and develop our skills.
