Inspiration

I observed a growing interest in astrology among Gen Z and millennials, but the experience of consulting astrologers online is often inconsistent, expensive, and unscalable. I wanted to create something more intuitive - a personalized, always-available astro guide powered by AI. The goal: make astrology consultations as seamless and accessible as a Spotify playlist.

What it does

AstroAI is a personalized, interactive astrology consultation platform that simulates a real conversation with an astrologer - powered by AI. It does:

Hosts video consultations with an AI avatar that speaks directly to you. Generates real-time kundli and horoscope charts using your birth details. Offers compatibility and life event predictions. Integrates multiple AI services (OpenAI, ElevenLabs, Tavus) to create a holistic user experience.

How we built it

I built AstroAI as a full-stack TypeScript application using:

Frontend: React + Tailwind CSS + Vite for a fast, responsive UI.

Backend Services: Integrated with OpenAI (for dialogue), and Tavus (for personalized avatar videos).

Astrology Logic: Vedic astrology API integration to fetch planetary positions, birth charts, etc.

Challenges we ran into

Avatar Personalization: Integrating Tavus to generate believable and relevant video responses in real time.

Astrology API Complexity: Mapping Vedic calculations accurately and making sense to the user without overwhelming them.

Latency Optimization: Orchestrating multiple API calls across services without sacrificing user experience.
