Inspiration
Have you always wanted a pet companion, but your parents never even considered the thought? Are you one looking for a partner and confidante that will listen and comfort you? Astro the Robot Dog was made for you! Astro the Robot Dog is inspired by Astro the Dog from the hit retro TV show The Jetsons.
What it does
Astro the Robot Dog does exactly what you tell it to. It can fetch, it can dance, it can speak! Astro recognizes its owner and scares intruders away with its bark. You can play with him and even use him as a guard dog. The possibilities are endless with Astro the Robot Dog!
How we built it
Thanks to our awesome partners from Viam, we were able to explore robots in an easy, accessible way. Astro is written in Python on a Raspberry Pi. He uses the Google Vision API and the Python NLTK to recognize visual and audible cues before performing them in hardware.
