Inspiration
We were brainstorming ideas about what we could help with in relation to the space topic, and telescopes and taking pictures of the night sky came out and we started building the idea from there.
What it does
The whole idea was to create a tool for a user to input data like their location, camera Lense elevation and angle. And with help with open-source access data, warn the user if there will be a satellite coming into the camera field of view so they can stop their shot, and resume once it leaves the FOV.
How we built it
We used VS code and UV to share the project advancements, also AI like Claude and Gemini to help go faster during the process.
Challenges we ran into
The most challenging part was to merge the different parts of the project that we got assigned and make them work.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
It took time but we were able to make the project run, and with live data.
What we learned
There has to be a lot of preparation and communication to make a project go forward, also that troubleshooting takes up a lot of time if we wait until the end.
What's next for Astro Photography Helper
Make a stand-alone app for the helper, add more features and make it pre download data to go out in the field where there is no internet access and still work properly, make it able to use phone gps to track the location and make it easier for the user
