Inspiration

What it does

The piece is a dress that shows a futuristic environment of a celestial being. The center piece lights up, representing galaxies and a light of life coming from the center of this otherworldly being. Our project also flows from the sides of the arms, down to the hands. The tool and colored fabric creates a flow of freedom and movement among the bodice.

How we built it

Beginning with a black jumpsuit, which we revamped to open up the center and add many other elements. We added tool for a veil. We put tool in the center, layered on lights, and added another layer of tool for dimension. We then added a third layer of sheer fabric to add color and flowing arms.

Challenges we ran into

Time constraints, material constraints, learning new mediums, and communication.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of working as a team to accomplish all this in the small amount of time is something that we are proud of, and having a final look that is cool and thematic. We are proud of learning how to model walk and how to create something and present it with confidence.

What we learned

We learned how to face all of the challenges. We learned how to sew on lights to a piece, cut and reframe clothes, and 3D print jewelry. We learned how to communicate about what our visions were for this project, and how to achieve that.

What's next for Astralize

Further exploring more clothing looks to represent this imagined future being. Next, we will create a second celestial being and improving the comfort and durability of our current outfit/project.
