Inspiration

Students often study using scattered lecture notes, textbooks, slides, and videos. Finding reliable answers and identifying weak topics can be difficult. Phoenix aims to bring these learning resources together into one personalized study companion

What it does

Phoenix is an Al-powered study companion designed to answer questions using uploaded study materials, provide source-cited explanations, generate practice quizzes, and help students identify topics that need revision

How we built it

Our prototype will use Python and Streamlit for the interface, PDF text extraction for study materials, and an Al model to generate grounded answers and quiz questions. We aim to track quiz performance and recommend practice based on the learner's weak topics

Challenges we ran into

Our main challenges are keeping answers grounded in the uploaded material, providing accurate page citations, and making personalized assessments useful and reliable.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud to turn an everyday student challenge into an AI-powered learning solution. Phoenix brings together source-cited answers, adaptive assessments, and personalized learning in one platform. This project has helped us explore AI development, teamwork, and building technology that solves real-world problems.

What we learned

We are exploring how retrieval-based question answering, Al-generated assessments, and learner performance tracking can work together to support more effective studying

What's next for Pheonix

We plan to enhance Phoenix with video and slide integration, more accurate source-cited answers, adaptive quizzes, and personalized revision plans. Our goal is to make learning smarter, more reliable, and tailored to every student's needs.
