Financial literacy is one of the most vital skills for young adults, yet it remains one of the most difficult to master due to a dense, overwhelming saturation of information. Experiencing this steep learning curve ourselves inspired us to bridge the gap. Enter Fork: an AI-powered financial advisor built to demystify personal finance, translating complex data into actionable, personalized guidance for the next generation.

What it does

Fork AI is an intelligent, always-on financial advisor that monitors your wealth 24/7. Beyond simply tracking expenses, it acts as a personalized mentor—instantly answering complex questions, demystifying your financial health, and actively building roadmaps to help you achieve custom financial goals. To ensure your ultimate security, Fork AI continuously audits your accounts for unrecognized charges and provides step-by-step, actionable guidance to resolve them.

How we built it

Fork is built on a cutting-edge, AI-first tech stack. We powered our core assistant with the Gemini API for advanced reasoning and integrated ElevenLabs to deliver highly conversational, vocal financial advice. To build rapidly without sacrificing quality, we utilized Codex to accelerate our coding process and Grok Bot for strategic architectural planning. Because financial data requires absolute security, we fortified our backend by deploying Tiger Data for safe data storage alongside Auth0 for bulletproof user authentication.

Challenges we ran into

Our primary technical bottleneck was navigating the strict token limits of the Cursor coding models. Hitting these caps forced us to pause active development while waiting for resets, which significantly disrupted our momentum. This constraint ultimately challenged us to adapt our workflow and strategically optimize our time management during the remaining hackathon hours.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Our greatest accomplishment was navigating complex technical bottlenecks through seamless collaboration to build a fully realized platform. Instead of stopping at a working demo, we pushed the project through rigorous testing cycles to ensure Fork AI is secure, reliable, and ready for end-users to trust with their financial data.

What we learned

We discovered that complex roadblocks are no match for resilient collaboration. By leaning on each other’s strengths and refusing to pivot away from hard problems, we learned how to engineer our way out of seemingly insurmountable challenges.

What's next for Fork AI

The next phase for Fork AI involves grounding our platform in real-world expertise. We plan to collaborate with financial advisors to pinpoint the most pressing financial pain points our users experience. These insights will drive the rapid integration of new tools and features, transforming Fork into an even more powerful resource for reducing financial stress.
