Inspiration
Women safety and security has always been of great importance and yet the devices that do currently exist in the market are not able to provide the immediate first line of defense as they are either bulky, not easily concealable or arent easy to use. Our aim was to provide a simple solution to tackle this very issue
What it does
By integrating a taser in a smartwatch we have provided an immediate first line of defense that can give an output of 1100V, which is enough to stun an adult. The watch is activated a slider present on a custom ring we have created. When the taser is triggered an SoS notification along with the current location is sent to your specified contacts alerting them.
How we built it
We have implemented a taser in a digital watch which can be activated using a ring by RF transmission. When the taser gets activated, the app sends an SOS message to selected contacts along with GPS.
Challenges we ran into
Linking the watch to the ring using RF Linking the app to the watch using Bluetooth HC-05
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud to have been able to integrate both the hardware and the software in the span of this hack. We are also proud of the output voltage of 1100V we were able to achieve.
What we learned
We learned how to integrate the app to the hardware using hc-05, also how to activate a device using radio frequency.
What's next for ASTR
Using nano capacitors we hope to create a small flexible PCB and implement this idea into the straps of the smart watch. Design and deploy an app which gives the live location of the person after the taser has been triggered.
