Inspiration

We decided to combine elements of gameplay and education to make an interactive game that you can still learn from. We wanted the user to be able to learn about planets but have a good time while doing it :)

What it does

Asteroid Avoider is a game where you avoid asteroids that fly at you in your rocket. As you pass each level, you learn about different planets in our solar system. Your goal is to make it back to Earth while collecting materials from each planet.

How we built it

We built Asteroid Avoider in Godot 3.4 using GDScript. The graphics were made in a combination of Canva and Gimp.

Challenges we ran into

Some challenges we ran into were dealing with so many screens and levels all at once. Also, compiling the graphics to be compatible with Godot were a little tricky because of a lack of communication.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are really proud and happy that Asteroid Avoider is a challenging and fun game that incorporates all the features we wanted to implement at the beginning of the hackathon.

What we learned

We learned more about Godot, collaboration, and using art software.

What's next for Asteroid Avoider

Asteroid Avoider 5000 coming soon!
