Inspiration
One year ago, I had almost no coding experience. I wanted to prove that a clear idea, strong motivation, and AI-assisted development can help a non-developer build a real product.
I started learning Flutter with ChatGPT and later continued improving the project with Codex.
What AssetFixMe does
AssetFixMe helps teams report, assign, track, and complete maintenance requests.
A problem can be reported with a photo, video, description, or QR code. A manager assigns the request to a technician, the technician completes the repair, and the full history stays connected to the asset.
The product is designed for hotels, property management, workshops, marinas, offices, small businesses, and homes.
How I built it
I built AssetFixMe with Flutter and Firebase.
ChatGPT helped me understand programming, plan features, solve problems, and write Flutter code. Codex now helps me work directly with the existing codebase, improve features, and fix issues faster.
AssetFixMe does not currently use AI inside the application. AI was my development partner and helped me turn my idea into a working product.
Challenges
The biggest challenge was learning software development while building a real application at the same time.
I had to learn authentication, user roles, permissions, Firebase security rules, notifications, media uploads, QR codes, request workflows, and publishing for Android, iOS, and web.
Keeping the product simple while adding many real business requirements was also a major challenge.
What I learned
I learned that coding is not only about writing code. It is about understanding the problem, creating a simple process, testing, listening to feedback, and improving step by step.
AI did not build the product alone. It helped me learn faster, but I still had to make the product decisions, test the workflows, find problems, and continue after many failed attempts.
What I am proud of
I am proud that I moved from almost no coding experience to building and publishing a real multi-platform product in about one year.
AssetFixMe now includes asset management, maintenance requests, roles, QR reporting, photos, videos, notifications, service history, periodic maintenance, and handover workflows.
What is next
My next goal is to make AssetFixMe even simpler and test it with hotels and other businesses.
I want to improve onboarding, reporting, automation, and the overall user experience. I also want to use Codex more deeply to develop faster and maintain a better codebase.
