Inspiration
As it is said, βThe longer the meetings, the less is accomplished.β To act as a meeting manager and reduce the manual part of keeping up with meetings, meeting notes and a lot more. Secondly what inspired us to follow this Bot was to aid the hearing-impaired with visual snippets of the auditory inputs of the meeting.
What it does
The Bot uses the Assembly AI API and text compilation features along with discord api in order to build a bot that can attend a meeting and interact with the voice spoken in the meetings. Also it can help create meeting notes and MoMs in the chats.
How we built it
We used the discord.py library and the Assembly api docs and our knowledge of python to implement the discord bot. We hosted it on our local server and run it on our private discord server.
Challenges we ran into
Challenges- Some libraries were difficult to work with for us. Secondly, since we had never worked with Discord bots before, it was a totally new domain for us. Some open-source APIs that we came across for a Discord speech bot were not available for free, hence we had to write it from scratch.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Accomplishments we're proud of- Our Assembly-Meeting-bot in itself is our self-created bot which we're very proud of having made in 3 days.
What we learned
We learned to make a discord bot from scratch, something which we had never done before! We also used the AssemblyAI API to help us with speech to text transcription. It was a new API for us and quite fun to work with.
What's next for Assembly-Meeting-Bot
We plan to make the Assembly-Meeting-bot more people-friendly by generating a tone and context intuition for the bot easier understanding by people of the meeting notes and transcription. We also hope to include more features like Real-time speech to text transcription with face mapping for the person speaking in a group call. This is to help the hearing-impaired with enriched accessibility features.
