Inspiration

The inspiration for Aspin comes from Constellation's collaboration with the non-profit organization "Dress for Success."

What it does

Our mobile-application provides daily personalized outfit recommendations to our users, tailored to their input-preferences, including fashion styles and local weather based on their location. Upon wearing the recommended outfit, the user has the option to confirm its use. Our app then tracks the number of times the clothing item has been worn, using a preference-based WearCount system. Every seven days, the app will notify the user to wash their clothes so you can eventually add them back into the rotation. This will make sure that the app has as many options as possible to recommend to the user.

How we built it

We used Figma to give a visual representation of how our project would look as a mobile application. We also used HTML to demonstrate how it would look as a web application as well. We focused much more on the front-end of the project rather than the back-end. We felt that a better developed front-end would be more useful than a back-end for showing off the potential that our project has.

Challenges we ran into

Our first challenge was trying to figure out what language to use, especially since we didn't all know the same programming languages. The second major challenge was trying to figure out how to make the language work once we figured it out.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Every step of the project was an accomplishment in itself. Figuring out the best language to use, figuring out how to split the workload for maximum efficiency, to finally getting the project presentation ready were all accomplishments that we are proud of.

What we learned

We learned that we are more capable than we had initially thought. We went from struggling to even think of a project to do to building something with real business potential.

What's next for Aspin

We would love to add much more functionality beyond what we are presenting, in hopes of making it a useful product.
