ASMO – Artificial Strategic Market Observer

Overview

Financial markets move because of events happening around the world. A change in interest rates, a government policy, a geopolitical conflict, or a natural disaster can influence multiple financial markets within minutes. While this information is publicly available, understanding its impact is still a manual, time-consuming process for financial analysts, investment firms, and corporate risk teams.

ASMO (Artificial Strategic Market Observer) is an AI-powered Enterprise Market Intelligence Agent designed to automate this workflow. Instead of simply collecting news, ASMO continuously monitors trusted financial data sources, identifies significant market-moving events, compares them with similar historical situations, reasons about possible consequences, and generates explainable market intelligence in real time.

Our goal is not to replace financial professionals, but to provide them with an intelligent assistant capable of reducing information overload and accelerating decision-making.

What Inspired Us

Every day we see thousands of financial headlines published across different platforms, yet professionals still spend hours reading articles, comparing sources, and researching historical events before making informed decisions.

We asked ourselves a simple question:

What if AI could perform this repetitive analysis automatically while keeping humans in control of critical decisions?

That idea became ASMO.

Rather than creating another chatbot or financial news website, we wanted to build an autonomous AI agent capable of understanding events, reasoning about market impacts, and providing evidence-based insights for enterprise users.

How We Built It

ASMO is designed using a modular AI agent architecture.

The platform continuously collects information from trusted financial news providers, RSS feeds, government announcements, and selected web sources. The collected data is filtered, classified, and processed by multiple AI agents coordinated through LangGraph.

Historical market events are stored inside PostgreSQL with pgvector, allowing the system to retrieve semantically similar events and support its reasoning with historical evidence.

Gemini AI performs event understanding, market reasoning, and insight generation, while Redis manages asynchronous processing and real-time notifications.

Users interact with ASMO through a modern web dashboard that provides personalized market intelligence, historical comparisons, AI-generated explanations, and instant alerts.

Key Features

  • 🌍 Real-time global market monitoring
  • 🤖 Autonomous AI reasoning agents
  • 📚 Historical event comparison using semantic search
  • 📈 Explainable market impact analysis
  • 🔔 Personalized real-time notifications
  • 💬 AI-powered financial assistant
  • 🧠 Human-in-the-loop validation for low-confidence events

Challenges We Faced

Designing ASMO required much more than integrating an LLM.

One of our biggest challenges was designing an autonomous workflow that could reason through complex financial events rather than simply summarize news articles.

We also needed to ensure the system could handle conflicting information from multiple sources while remaining transparent about confidence and uncertainty. This led us to implement a human-in-the-loop review process for high-impact or low-confidence scenarios.

Balancing speed, accuracy, explainability, and scalability has been one of the most valuable engineering challenges throughout the project.

What We Learned

Building ASMO taught us that creating AI agents involves much more than prompting large language models.

We gained hands-on experience in designing multi-agent workflows, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), semantic search, asynchronous processing, enterprise system architecture, and responsible AI practices.

More importantly, we learned how autonomous AI can support real business workflows while keeping humans involved in critical decisions.

Looking Ahead

Our vision extends beyond this hackathon.

We plan to evolve ASMO into a comprehensive enterprise market intelligence platform capable of supporting investment firms, banks, corporate treasury departments, commodity traders, and financial research organizations worldwide.

We believe the future of financial intelligence lies in AI systems that not only understand information but also explain it transparently, learn from history, and collaborate effectively with human experts.
