ASLearn

Inspiration

We were inspired by the theme of this year's challenge: inclusion, accessibility, and diversity. We were also inspired by close ones in our lives experiencing hearing loss.

What it does

ASLearn teaches people ASL interactively, reading the user's hand movements

How we built it

We used python and the libraries scikit-learn, Django, and mediapipe

Challenges we ran into

Developing the frontend to include the web camera

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Finishing this project in 11.5 hours!

What we learned

A lot about python, web development, and deaf culture.

What's next for ASLearn

Allowing for real-time communication between people who are hearing impaired and beginner ASL students.
