ASL - Machine Learning

What it does

It uses machine learning to look at the input (file or webcam) and determines if your hand is signing the letter "A," "B," "C," or no letter.

How we built it

Teachable Machine, sample images from the internet, and the tutorial from the livestream with Hana!

Challenges we ran into

I don't have a working webcam on this computer currently, so instead of recording a short clip for it to use as a bunch of photos, I had to gather various images online. It was very limiting on angles and such.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I actually got to explore machine learning a bit and got a model to work with the internet photos!

What we learned

I've been a bit scared of the topic because I thought it required a ton of knowledge on the subject, but I learned there are tons of tools out there that do a lot of things for you and allow you to just be creative with them :D

What's next for ASL - Machine Learning

I would like to try again with more ASL letters, and maybe even words, when I get a working webcam again.
