ASL Form Correction

Our app provides the user with a base-level understanding of ASL, which includes knowledge of the ASL alphabet and useful phrases. The user can also have their ASL hand signs assessed by the app.

Inspiration

Wanted to develop a computer vision based web application.

What it does

The main feature of our app is assessing the user's ASL hand signs.

How we built it

We used React for the frontend and FastAPI for the backend. Used VSCode as our IDE.

Challenges we ran into

The main challenge we ran into was merging each of our teammates' code together at the end to combine into a single application.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Our app can accurately track the user's hand motions with object detection.

What we learned

We learned how to implement object detection (computer vision feature) and the art of full stack development.

What's next for ASL Form Correction

We were able to successfully include the entire ASL alphabet in our application but not as many words, so we can work on adding more words to our app in the future.
