ASL Fingerspelling Sign Language Lens

Inspiration

Inspiration came from the ASL Fingerspelling template on Lens Studio.

What it does

This project is not about 1 single lens. The demo is of 1 lenses. But the project is an entire library of lenses. I have been creating a library of different content using this template. I have just been re-purposing this template for different words. The result is an entire library/dictionary of words that 1 can use to learn and practice ASL.

How we built it

Just used the same template and kept changing the words.

Challenges we ran into

The standard colours used are too distracting. So we changed the colours for the hint text to make it plain black or white.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Many of the lenses have seen heavy usage. Many people have also given feedback that they have learned sign language via these lenses.

What we learned

That AR experiences are a new an exciting way to get people to learn sign language. I have personally improved my sign language skills and many others have too.

What's next for ASL Fingerspelling Sign Language Lens

Just keep improving the library. The more words are added, the more people will learn.
