Inspiration

We were inspired by the Rutgers subreddit, and wanted to create a community app tailored specifically toward the Rutgers community, because we love Rutgers and wanted to give back.

What it does

AskRU allows members of the Rutgers community to ask for and receive advice. This can be done through both a mobile app and web UI.

How we built it

We built AskRU using MongoDB to store the data. We also used React to create a web app and the Android SDK to create an Android client.

Challenges we ran into

On the Android side, classes had to be created to model the JSON responses. There were a lot of responses to model, and naming them got a bit tricky (especially when objects from different responses that described the same thing were structured in different ways).

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud we were able to connect all these technologies together over such a short length of time.
