Living in Dubai for more than 10 years, I was doing every month the money transfers to my home country and every time I was searching for the better Foreign Exchange rate across banks and exchange houses.

The local websites and mobile apps couldn’t solve this matter, so together with my colleague, took the permission from the company to work on our own project called AskDXB - virtual assistant which helps UAE residents to get instant reply for the most common questions.

As a result, having some IT background and multiple brainstorming sessions, we decided to built chat bot on Facebook Messenger Bot platform.

Many ideas came in our mind for features like aggregating the news from local newspapers, prayer time, prices for gold and silver, foreign exchange rates and converter. One time one of my colleague receive a parking fine just for missing one space in SMS. And we have added the option for generating right SMS for parking.

We start receiving from friends, family members, colleagues the ideas what features to add in AskDXB, but the the biggest challenge happen later after reviewing the content of the customer's messages. Most of the customers were asking for the jobs! So, we together with colleagues we have decided to implement the job aggregating feature which allow customers to request, using native language, and get most relevant job offers from 20+ popular job portal and top employers in UAE. Then wit.ai came on board (selected from around 15 similar services) as solution for native language.

The experience we've got and most important impressions and customer's feedback became an amazing journey and we definitely will continue hard working on AskDXB further development.
