Inspiration

What problem are you solving? In times of uncertainty, legal information can be both scarce and exhaustive. This app will help people get trusted legal advice around COVID-19 and the CARES act.

What it does

How do you solve the problem? This app acts as an aggregator for sound legal advice around the CARES Act and COVID-19 related questions by open sourcing the data structures and allowing law firms across the globe to upload and manage their own content.

How I built it

What is the tech stack? Built by a dev shop in Manhattan with over a decade of mobile app experience, the MVP is built in Swift and takes basic JSON data through GET requests. This way, content can be sourced and managed externally.

Challenges I ran into

How do you manage the content? A partnership between tri-state area law firms and law schools. This partnership will source and manage all content on a pro bono basis.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

How scalable is this solution? Globally. The service calls will be open-sourced. We expect the app to be able to handle any data as long as it is in the right JSON format, so law firms across the country can submit questions and answers directly to the app, as well as manage and maintain their content externally. This is already possible but has been disabled for security reasons.

What's next for Ask RBGeeves

What's next? Our legal partners are working on sourcing content. Our developers will do another pass at the UI/UX.

How long do you need? Our developers have asked for 1-2 weeks before submitting to Apple for review. We will start distributing through TestFlight next week and expect the final binary to be published by end of April 2020.

Additional resources? At that point we will need additional resources for SEO marketing and promotion.
