Inspiration
By the devpost challenge and constantly searching for context in a documentation, i know its there i just don't know which line.
What it does
A session is created temporarily, where the contents of the page are "read" and the user can be able to ask questions about the current page
How we built it
I build with 💗 using React JS
Challenges we ran into
technical side: Figuring out how to scrape the website for it to be fed to Gemini, and the design of the extension, and how to fit all the text in the area.
Mental side: giving up on the project, this project was meant for the 2024 challenge, and I was scared to finish it, so, like a lot of projects, I left it midway. But in 2025, I wanted to prove to myself that I can finish a project and post about it on LinkedIn post: https://www.linkedin.com/posts/ahlamyusuf_googlechromeai-geminillm-chromeextension-activity-7334847425850847233-QSMO?utm_source=share&utm_medium=member_desktop&rcm=ACoAACp3yDsBQs0ktyC9JG8o7UHF6y7L4dcK43E
Accomplishments that we're proud of
This project is the first one that i am submitting to a competition and using React to develop. It put me out there to build the confidence to learn how to build my website: ahlam.fyi please check it out. I am very proud of this project.
What we learned
I learned React and how to create guardrails for my project.
What's next for Ask Me Chrome Extension
For it to be part of Chrome, we all rely on LLMs to simplify complex explanations and so on. So instead of switching tabs, lets stay in one and ask away. As well as advancing it to point exactly to it's source on the page.
