In many families, one grandmother is the last person who can name the faces in the old photos, and nobody has written them down.

The problem

Families who scanned old albums onto their NAS. Often only one elder can still name the faces. She remembers less each visit, and paper notes never reach the files.

What it does

The NAS writes one question per scan: “Who is the woman in the chair holding the baby?” The family records her on a phone while browsing the numbered album. The NAS transcribes it, maps spoken photo numbers to names and, after approval, writes tags and quoted captions.

How it works

1. “Help me interview Grandma about Family/Scans/Box-1.”
2. Approve the album and question sheet.
3. The Skill waits, hours or days.
4. “We recorded it.” Confirm her consent; approve the transcript.
5. Check each row’s number, filename, description, quote and time; answer ≤3 “unsure” questions.
6. Approve tags and captions; tags are read back.

Why it is different

Face recognition cannot name someone never labelled; Skills cannot name its clusters. Ask Grandma writes the interview from the photos, waits for the conversation, and puts each name on the right file with her quote as proof. The model chooses what to ask; only her words decide a tag.

Round 1 status

The Skill package (SKILL.md + six references) passes the official uliya-skill-kit checker with 0 errors and 0 warnings. Everything that needs a real NAS (transcription of spoken numbers, approval batching, timings) is planned for validation on the finalist test day; the PDF lists the test cases.
