Inspiration
Going to the supermarket is a hassle. Having to find the items you need, worrying if certain items (like toilet paper) are still in stock, not to mention that the risk of getting infected rises with each passing minute that you spend inside of the location. To simplify this process, we've come up with the idea for AsideList. Now, people only need to use their phone to tell the supermarket what they need, cutting down the time spent inside of the supermarket to one minute at most, instead of ten to thirty minutes without our service.
What it does
AsideList asks the user for what they need from a supermarket in their area (using Google Places API) and then sends an e-mail to the supermarket in question, asking them to put the list of items aside, so that the user can then just walk in and pick them up more easily.
Challenges we ran into
- React has changed a lot over the past couple of years, so there was a steep learning curve at first
- Getting Firebase to connect to our app was a little bit of a hassle
