Inspiration

At present, middle schoolers see museum visits as an obligation. How might we reinvent an accessible museum experience to support deeper connection, customization, and curiosity?

What it does

Asian Art Hunt is an AI-driven Scavenger Hunt game for middle schoolers to learn about art, build deeper connections, and have fun! We leverage AI for team formation and personalized route generation, artwork detection, and fun features to augment the art experience. We integrate gamification to encourage active and sustained engagement, from one visit to the next!

How we built it

  • 3-question warm-up quiz Age range, hobby, and favorite artwork preview → used to assign one of a few pre-designed “routes” tailored for middle schoolers (e.g., “Myth & Monsters Squad,” “Tech & Power-Ups,” “Identity & Selfie Squad”).
  • Guided exhibit route Each route includes 4–6 stops with:
    • simple, friendly prompts instead of academic labels,
    • quick story bites that connect art to games, social media, sports, or pop culture,
    • a small challenge at each stop (spot-the-detail, pose-a-move, pick-a-side, short reflection).
  • Progress + completion moment As teams clear challenges, they “unlock” their route badge and a digital souvenir (e.g., a sharable card that captures their path and favorite piece).

Challenges we ran into

  • Balancing “fun and games” with “respect for the art” - We didn’t want to turn sacred or complex works into memes or jump-scares. We navigated the tension between making the challenges fun enough for Gen Alpha, but contextual and thoughtful so that they could still learn and respect the art.
  • Integrating technology thoughtfully: We tried Lovable to build the app, but it didn't work out as expected. So we decided to use some other tools to achieve our goal.
  • Building a workable prototype takes time: we explored using Lovable but the solution is limited

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • Made new friends and had fun along the way!
  • Built a high-fidelity Figma prototype by leveraging AI tools to boost creativity, efficiency, and productivity.
  • Collaborated across disciplines to turn ideas into an engaging and educational tool.

What we learned

  • We explored and leveraged multiple AI tools to build the prototype and facilitate brainstorming
  • We learnt more about the museum visiting experience from a different angle
  • We got inspired by other teams' solutions

What's next for Asian Art Hunt

  • We will go to the board to secure the funding
  • We will scale the solution to other age groups (e.g., elementary school, high school, even collage)
  • We will explore a path for the analog "Hunt Mode" designed for no digital version
