Shopping agents are good at finding products, but they usually stop before checkout. We wanted an agent that can safely finish the purchase and stay involved afterward.

aShop turns a buying request into a complete transaction: it finds matching offers, asks for exact approval, authorizes payment, places the order, tracks delivery, and handles returns or refunds.

We used an OpenAI-powered commerce agent, structured merchant tools through MCP, FastAPI for transaction logic, and React for the approval and tracking experience.

The hardest part was making payment, consent, retries, and order state reliable without giving the AI control over sensitive financial rules.

We built a working end-to-end purchase flow with checkout-bound approval, scoped payments, duplicate protection, timeout recovery, and post-purchase support.

Agentic commerce is less about recommendations and more about trust, clear authority, and safely handling everything that can happen after “Buy.”

What's next for aShop?

Connect more real merchants, add durable background processing, expand Stripe integration, and let the agent proactively resolve delivery problems.
